Users of this application will be able to seek medical information, pertaining to a wide variety of topics on Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Children’s health and Psychological Health, using their mobiles. Users will also be able to seek active medical advice from consultants on their chosen topics such as Obesity and Diet, Exercise and Sports, Diabetes etc. regularly via SMS.

Based on the Etisalat’s ‘Value SMS’ platform, mHealth will enable users to send their relevant health related information like their weight and age, to a 4 digit code. Based on the information provided, users will receive personalized information and updates on their Body Mass Index, Daily Calorie requirement and Daily Water requirement. Users will also be able to access quick information and consultation, and receive active SMS alerts on the health topics of their choice.

Commenting on this application, Abdulla Hashim, Senior Vice President, Business Solutions at Etisalat said, “In today’s fast paced life, health is the most neglected aspect. I believe it is critical for telecom leaders to harness the benefits that mobile technology can bring to healthcare, in both sociological and economic terms. Mobile technology can promote quality healthcare by providing relevant information and timely advice. The m-health service, by Etisalat, will be an excellent example of our vision and the active role a telecom leader can play in improving the quality of healthcare through Real Time, Collaborative, Clinical Information sharing.’

‘The planned mhealth service is designed to complement the excellent healthcare that is being delivered in the UAE. With the high incidence of many chronic diseases, like Diabetes, widespread in the UAE, such an application will not only increase user awareness on such chronic ailments, but also encourage people to take regular health check-ups and make them medically aware. Etisalat’s m-Health service will also inspire other technology companies to play an active role in improving the health of our Nation’ added Mr. Hashim.

Etisalat’s mhealth application can be viewed at the Etisalat Gitex stand in Zabeel hall.
