World Dermatology and Laser Conference

Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition was inaugurated yesterday and shall stay on for three consecutive days 17th, 18th and 19th April 2007.
The scientific programme involves different topics on skin pathology especially "benign and malignant tumors" and the modern cure for "Psoriasis" and "Vitiligo" and "Polymorph Acne" as well as the modern cures for skin "Hyper Pigmentation" and "Melasma". The conference also focuses on plastic surgery and skin care dermatology, in addition to the laser treatments and injections. Furthermore, six workshops will be conducted during the conference, and two Continuing Education points will be granted to the sessions’ attendees that shall discuss various chapters on skin care such as wrinkles reduction, BOTOX injections and skin rejuvenation, as well as the updated laser use and other modern skin care techniques. The conference engages 51 symposium that host specialists and doctors from The United States of America, Canada, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Arab Countries to cover the conference scientific programme, in addition to the four day intensive pre-conference course where specialists lectured and interacted with the congress participants who had the privilege of learning the state-of-the-art updates on Dermatology and acquired 28 Continuing Education points accredited by the UAE University.
The conference is achieving a remarkable progress every year and it has registered a global growth exceeding 40%. And due to the success continuity, mini-conferences shall be organized in different Arab countries namely Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and the Arabian Gulf countries. The conference and exhibition activities shall stay on for three days at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre as the latest innovations and researches on dermatology, laser and skin care will be presented and analyzed.

The largest-ever Vision-x Dubai

Vision-X Dubai, the region’s leading Optical and Ophthalmic industry exhibition, will bring together the highest number of participating companies in its history when it opens this week from 6 – 8 March, according to organiser Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
The event has grown by more than 30 percent in 2007, attracting specialists from the around the world covering fields as diverse as frames and fashion sunglasses, tools and machinery and eye health treatments. Vision-X Dubai’s focus on both the fashion and healthcare aspects of the industry is unique in the region and has contributed significantly to its growth in 2007.

The World Dental Congress

The World Dental Federation (FDI), the professional, independent and worldwide voice of dentistry representing over one million dentists around the world, has chosen Dubai to host the 2007 FDI Annual World Dental Congress and Exhibition.
In preparation for the Congress, senior FDI representatives met government officials, representatives from the local operations partner, Index Holdings, and corporate partner Unilever, in Dubai recently to discuss preparations.
The FDI Annual World Dental Congress is the single largest gathering of dental professionals, attracting over 25,000 visitors in any one year. Dubai has been chosen to be the host city for the 2007 Congress, owing to its world class infrastructure, the significant size of the dental community in the region and the very high level of commitment from Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, and President of the Department of Health and Medical Services.

Arab Health in Dubai

The UAE Minister of Health Humaid Al Qutami inaugurated the region’s largest healthcare and related services exhibition, Arab Health 2007, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
The Leaders in Healthcare conference are headlining the largest multi-track medical congress in the world. New conferences added to the congress this year include the IT In Healthcare, Molecular Imaging for Cancer, Vascular Surgery, Management of Rheumatic Diseases, Middle East Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Conference, Healthcare Insurance and Advances in Healthcare.
Coupled with the regular offerings of conferences such as Hospital Design & Upgrade (HDU), Middle East Laboratory Management & Medicine, Complementary Medicine: Evidence Based Treatment, and Middle East Wounds Congress, Arab Health, for the first time in 2007, is offering all attending specialists a complementary E-book (CD format) in their area of expertise for those attending Leaders in Healthcare, Middle East Obs-Gyne, Orthopedics, Vascular Surgery, ME Imaging and Diagnostic, and Advances in Laparoscopic Surgery Conferences.
In addition to the E-book, the Advances in Healthcare Conference, presented by Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) and the Dubai Harvard Foundation on January 30, will be offered free of charge for all attendees. Distinguished speakers such as, Dr. Joseph B. Martin, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, will discuss the latest trends in medical education and technology.
Arab Health 2007, which will occupy all 11 halls of the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, is running till February 1. Almost 2,200 companies from 70 countries are participating in the event, which features 30 national pavilions and an expected visitor turnout of 30,000 people.

The Wellbeing Show


Last year the Wellbeing Show was held at Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Every visitor was given a purple bracelet at the entrance in stead of a pass. I keep mine until today and wear it often with casual outfits in order to remind me to stick to the well-being principals.

The next coming Wellbeing Show 2007 will be staged at the Dubai International Conference and Exhibition Centre from January 18 – 20.
Workshops, live demonstrations and comprehensive program of activities are also scheduled at this popular event. The show features four dedicated zones covering a holistic spectrum of inner and outer health and beauty.

The “Look Good and Feel Good Zone” explores the latest in spa and cosmetic treatments, including state of the art breakthroughs in healthy aesthetics.

The “Food and Nutrition Zone”, meanwhile, looks at the benefits of organic diets and eating plans that are guaranteed to suit every modern lifestyle.

Advances in exercise, personal training and related equipment will take centre stage at the “Health and Fitness Zone”. Visitors are also taught how to open their minds to a better body at the “Mind, Body and Soul Zone”.

Guest speakers will include renowned astrologer Von Strunckel as well as Holford, a best selling author and spokesman on food, nutrition and environmental health.
Fragrance expert Roja Dove promises to take visitors on a magical journey into the world of scents, while Shakespearen actor and voice coach Stewart Pearce will focus on the art of self projection and presentation.
