Fast food TV commercials linked to obesity

Exposure to television advertising on fast-food is linked with obesity in young people

A new study in the United States revealed that people who are frequently watching TV commercials of fast-food brands may have eating patterns that include many types of high-calorie foods. In addition, they may be especially sensitive to visual cues to eat while watching television.

It seems, TV commercials on fast-food restaurants are to blame for childhood obesity. Not only eating a lot of hamburgers, fried chicken or fish, onions and french fries increases the risk of obesity, but only watching the television advertising on such is linked with obesity in young people.

Green Coffee Bean: Superfood for Weight Loss

“Weight-loss” supplements are not really recommended by doctors, because most of them do not really deliver the promised results. Such supplements that claim “easy” weight loss or “fast” weight loss are usually not up to the result, but the fast profits. The not so hidden secret of weight loss is really a healthy diet and exercise. However, some super-foods can speed up the process. The green coffee bean, in particular, became very popular lately. An amazing research findings are to blame for this rediscovered interest.

Diabetes and Diet

How are diabetes and nutrition linked?

Glucose (sugar) is produced by the body from the foods you eat, mainly carbohydrates. So your food choices have an impact on your glucose levels.
The major nutrients in food are protein, fat, and carbohydrates. You need all of these nutrients in your diet. Among the many different sources of these nutrients, some are better for you than others. For example, lean white meat (such as chicken breast with no skin) is a healthier source of protein than fatty red meat (such as hamburger). Liquid vegetable oils (such as olive and canola) are more heart-healthy than solid fats (such as margarine and butter). There are also differences among carbohydrates, and these differences are important in diabetes control.

Focus on what you can add to the diet menu

Diets often focus on what you have to eliminate: no carbs (you know that I think that is a bad idea), sugar (good to eliminate for a little bit), all food but cabbage (really bad idea).
Instead of focusing on the plate being half empty, why not fill it up with foods you should be eating.
We all should be eating 5 to 7 servings of fruits and veggies, and some diet plans recommend trying to eat up to 13 servings a day. So focus on what you can and should add to your meals and snacks.
The fruit and vegetables market in Dubai near Shindaga tunnel can be a great source. If you consider it a hard trip due to the hot weather now, please note that all supermarkets recently have cut down the prices on all greenery.
Here are a few ideas of how to increase your intake of healthy foods:
  • Use vegetables as chip substitutes. Carrots sticks, cucumber slices and celery are great vehicles for hummus.
  • Add berries to your breakfast cereal. Strawberries are just coming into season so they should be less expensive. Blackberries are super high in antioxidants too.
  • Add extra vegetables to your salads. Left over steamed green beans or broccoli can go right onto your greens.
  • Try vegetable purees instead of mashed potatoes. Celery root, cauliflower and squash are tasty substitutes for mashed potatoes.
  • Use an apple instead of crackers for cheese or peanut butter.
  • Take a banana with you wherever you go. You don't need to pack it in anything especially since it naturally comes with a nice thick skin.
  • Add steamed veggies to pre-made soup.
  • Cut up some fruit for dessert, it is a great palate cleanser and light enough to not push you over the edge.
  • Snack on carrots.

Changing your lifestyle is all about attitude, so focus on the positive. In fact, we can all focus on eating more fruits and veggies.

The Phyto Shape contains sibutramine and it is officially withdrawn from the UAE market

Today morning Dr. Khadija from the Pharmaceutical Department of the Ministry of Health in Dubai confirmed over a phone conversation that the Phyto Shape is officially withdrawn from the local market as it is not herbal supplement as claimed previously. It has been found that the Phyto Shape contains sibutramine hydrochloride monohydrate that is the primary component of the Reductil.
The article published by Khaleej Times on 24th of April provided the official information released by the Ministry of Health.
So Dear Readers, all our previous debates about the Phyto Shape were only debates and if you chose to consider it or not - it's only your decision, but not out recommendation! Our aim is to provide you with information.

Reductil

Following the Phyto Shape debate and suggestion that contains some 40-45 mg of Reductil, we did some search and found useful information from one UK source:
Reductil capsules contain the active ingredient sibutramine hydrochloride monohydrate, which is a type of anti-obesity medicine. It works by affecting neurotransmitters in the brain.
Neurotransmitters are natural body chemicals that are stored in nerve cells and are involved in transmitting messages between the nerve cells. They are released from nerve cells as a message is transmitted. Once the message has been transmitted, the nerve cells then reabsorb the neurotransmitter.
Sibutramine prevents two of these neurotransmitters, noradrenaline and serotonin, from being reabsorbed back into the nerve cells. Noradrenaline and serotonin are responsible for moderating mood and various other processes in the brain. The sibutramine helps people to lose weight by increasing the amount of noradrenaline and serotonin free to act in the brain. This enhances the feeling of fulfillment from eating, and so makes you feel satisfied after eating less food.
You will need to continue with an appropriate diet and exercise programme while taking this medicine, so that you are able to maintain your new weight after you have stopped treatment. Your doctor should give you advice to assist you with this.
Apparently Reductil is not a new drug and despite any site effects is freely sold around the world. The UAE daily Khaleej Times published that the Ministry of Health has withdrawn the Phyto Shape from the local market.

The Phytoshape again!

For few months already many have discussed the Phyto Shape, including many friends and people we know.
Many ladies commented that the Phyto Shape helps to loose weight and in fact many did loose weight - 4 to 5 kg monthly. If the news has been purposely spread to bust the sales of the Phyto Shape or the products proves results, it is hard to establish.
The price at the pharmacies was AED 265 until yesterday. It is not sure if the product is available today or already all the stocks were withdrawn from the market.
A little bit is written on the Internet about it and few sites discuss the ingredients along with the site effects of the Phyto Shape. Maybe they are promotional, maybe not.
From what is written on the Internet we all have been led to think that the Phyto Shape is the next slimming miracle and will make many slimmer and more attractive. We found some sites that are recommending the Phyto Shape as a Fruit Extract and natural product. The Ministry of Health in UAE found otherwise.
Yesterday, 24th of April, in one of the daily newspaper Khallej Times was published the following:
"Herbal drug to be withdrawn
The Ministry of Health (MoH) has decided to withdraw a slimming food supplement from the local market, for containing chemical substances that are harmful to human health.
Phyto Shape capsules, which are marketed as a herbal product for losing weight, will be withdrawn from the market to avert serious health risks that might result from taking the capsules,” said Humaid Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Pharmacy and Supplies. "

Phytoshape

Important: Before you read the following, I would like to inform you that on 24th April 2007, UAE's daily publication Khaleej News published that the Ministry of Health decided to withdraw the Phytoshape from the local market! The press release was confirmed over the phone by Dr. Khadija from the Pharmaceutical Department of the Ministry of Health in Dubai.

Dubai's female population is currently overexcited with the lattes slimming miracle, called Phytoshape.

Pharmacies are running out of stock in no time. The pharmacist's wives are getting new figures faster than you can imagine.

What is Phytoshape? How it works? Is it safe? Where we can get it?

These are the common questions every one should ask while considering buying and using any kind of medicines or supplements.

As I found out, the Phytoshape active ingredient is a pure natural fruit extract. It contains hydroxycitric acid. This molecule compete with with citric acid of our body & inhibit the storage of diet as fat. It converts excess food to glycogen. Our body can not store more than half Kg. of glycogen, simply because stored glycogen will give a signal of satiety to the brain with suppression of appetite. As Phyto Shape is thermogenic, it burns fat. It directs flow of blood away from stomach area . This results in appetite suppression. So, simply said: you don't feel hungry.

It is reported most people loose a minimum of 4 kg per month, but some more.

Phyto Shape capsules are contraindicated during pregnancy & lactation. Of course they should be out of the reach of children.

All together, it sounds as harmless herbal supplement that helps to loose weight by suppressing the appetite.

What do you say?
